1984年、瀬戸内の小さな港町 牛窓で、地域とアートを結ぶ「JAPAN牛窓国際芸術祭」が開催されました。1992年まで続いたこの祭典は、美術館から解き放たれたアート作品を地方から発信できる芸術祭の先駆けとして今でも語り継がれています。当時の様子やエピソードをうかがいながら構想を練った「牛窓クラフト散歩」では、潮風薫る四月の牛窓に手仕事の未来を感じさせてくれるような作家を招き、牛窓の街を工芸（クラフト）の色に染めていきます。また、特別企画による絵やイラスト・写真、古道具等の時代やジャンルを越えた作品も、日々の営みの中に在る「美しいもの」を照らし出してくれるでしょう。
